The claim that Sacha Lord was among the hosted hospitality leaders at the roundtable on 2 June 2026 is directly confirmed by multiple sources: 1. **Sacha Lord's own LinkedIn post** (dated 3 June 2026): He wrote, "Yesterday I headed down to Parliament to help make the case for a reduction in Vat for Hospitality" and noted he was "name checked at today's Prime Ministers Questions." 2. **Institute of Hospitality website**: The roundtable "brought together leading voices from across the industry, including Sacha Lord FIH, Matt Tebbutt and Thomasina Miers." Sacha Lord is also quoted directly: "After attending the round table organised by Rosie Duffield, it became very clear to me that operators in the room were in an extremely desperate situation." 3. **Morning Advertiser** (3 June 2026): Reported that "Duffield told the House of Commons she had recently hosted a meeting with industry leaders from Manchester, Liverpool and Kent, including chair of the Night-Time Industries Association (NTIA) Sacha Lord." One minor note: In the speech, Duffield referred to Sacha Lord as "Andy Burnham's night-time economy adviser," while Sacha Lord himself noted on LinkedIn that his correct title is "Chair of the Night Time Industries Association." This is a minor mislabeling of his title, but the core claim — that he was among the hosted hospitality leaders — is accurate. From speech
Q5. This week, Tom Kerridge and UKHospitality launched their “VAT’s the Problem” campaign, and yesterday my neighbour the right hon. Member for Herne Bay and Sandwich (Sir Roger Gale) and I hosted industry bodies, chefs Matt Tebbutt and Thomasina Myers and hospitality leaders from Manchester, Liverpool, London and Kent, including Andy Burnham’s night-time economy adviser Sacha Lord. They all agree with campaigners such as Andy Lennox that the UK’s rate of 20% VAT on hospitality is killing businesses daily. Does the Prime Minister agree that VAT’s the problem? Will he match the pledge of his candidate in Makerfield to slash VAT in line with the rest of Europe?
