This is a self-assessment about personal change, which is not something public evidence can verify in a strict factual way. Public biographies do show that Nigel Farage moved from working as a commodity broker and running his own business to becoming a founder of UKIP and a professional politician, so the statement is consistent with a major change in career and life path.
